Michelangelo (Arts and Crafts Centre)

Michelangelo is the Arts and Crafts Center in EmeraldField. The centre is named after Michelangelo, who was one of the greatest Artists of the renaissance era. As he often says, “I saw the angel in the marble and carved until I set him free.”

Art is a diverse range of human activities in creating visual, auditory or performing artifacts (artworks), expressing the artist's imaginative, conceptual idea, or technical skill, intended to be appreciated for their beauty or emotional power.

Michelangelo Centre welcomes students with open arms and gives them a whole new perspective of Art. Students have been involved in minor projects like; paper craft, still life drawing, and bead decoration, and they display a great sense of creativity and talent. They also work on Collage Decoration, Paintings, Clay Molding, Paper Mache, Tie and Dye etc. among others.

Steadily, the center has been molding our students into great artists and decorators that the world will hear of some day. In the same vein, the more senior students are made to imbibe creative skills as they are challenged with producing motif and patterns for fabric decorations ranging from baby motif, floral motif, traditional motif etc.

Other activities being carried out in Michelangelo include: door paintings, package designs, lettering etc. Michelangelo, with so much pride, presented the JSS 3 students for the first external examinations for EmeraldField High school, as they exhibited some glamorous work for their practical exams, comprising of Batik, Beaded Bags, Ankara Sandals, and Egg Paintings. The NECO BECE results were excellent.

The Michelangelo Art Club designed a “Model of EmeraldField Schools” made with some locally found materials.

Michelangelo will continue to promote the Arts through the activities of the students.
